Cryptomeria japonica ‘Yoshino’
2012 Theodore Klein Plant Award Winner
Cryptomeria japonica ‘Yoshino’ – probably the most cold tolerant of the Cryptomerias. Certainly one of the best for holding its color through the winter. It is fast growing and it maintains a pyramidal habit. The image of a tight grouping to the right was taken at the Cincinnatti Zoo and Botanic Garden. Steve Foltz, Horticulture Director for the Cincinnatti Zoo and Botanic Garden has planted it in strategic places to quickly generate an evergreen effect.
